Avocation Software is a subsidiary of AVS Development, Ltd. The company is owned and operated by a firefighter/paramedic with over 30 years of experience in the EMS field, and over 35 years of experience in the field of computer science.

Experience as a firefighter/paramedic has made us painfully aware of the inefficiency and unfriendliness of much of the software that emergency service workers must deal with. As a programmer, it appears that much of the software that is available has been written to make the programmer's job as easy as possible, not the user's.

It is our mission to break that trend.

We have been providing ambulance billing software nation-wide since 1991. From the beginning, we have taken great effort to always keep the user in mind when writing our software. If it takes 10 hours of additional programming to make a user's job one step easier, it is worth it to us...we understand that the user may have to perform that step thousands of times.

In addition, we recognize that we can't anticipate all the needs that may arise, and therefore always remain open to feedback and suggestions that will improve the product and make your job easier.

The EMS Accounting System is now in it's third major revision. Initially written in MS Basic for DOS, the program was re-written in 1997 in Clipper. The new Version-5 is a 100% Microsoft Windows product, written in Microsoft Visual FoxPro.
